Excellent Keyboard ditch the SoftwareAugust 28, 2010 T. Kronmiller(Great Falls, VA USA) This keyboard is the epitome of comfort. Typing on it is both comfortable and fast and using the mouse is extremely easy with experience (I personally prefer to use my middle finger or thumb depending on how I hold it). It also has excellent looks, though the glass part will smudge quite easily. Though the battery will probably not last two months or whatever the advert says, it can be left on and used heavily for days, if not weeks, at a time.
It is fully compatible with Windows 7 and all the BIOSes I have used it with. I will warn you that before I updated my computer's BIOS (a complex and risky procedure in most cases) the keyboard software or driver caused it to lock up when it went into standby. Furtermore, the software this keyboard comes with looks like garbage, is only marginally useful, and causes annoying glitches. I personally uninstalled the software and now simply don't install it on new computers (just let Windows find the driver for it). The only functionality I lose by doing so is the ability to program the "secret" hotkeys for F1-F4 and F9-F12 as well as the zoom buttons (everything else works including the hotkeys for F5-F8).
The keyboard is also more delicate than I would like. After dropping it a few times, I seem to have caused the backspace and shift keys to become firmer than before. After mashing the backspace key (gently) I managed to get it to loosten back up. I have had no such luck with the shift key.
Despite its quirks, I am happy enough with it to buy a second one and reccomend it to family members.
Have bought twice, nice, but not beer proof!August 26, 2010 Quentin Smith I've purchased this little beauty twice now! Once about three years ago, and again a couple months back. I'd really like to get one for my girl friends HTPC (home theater PC), and another for my HTPC (as I like it so much, I use it on my desktop PC).
The first keyboard lasted about a year or so, however, it become the victim of an unfortunate party foul; a beer spill. This keyboard is unfortunately neither water errr... liquid proof, not is it designed in a away that would allow easy recovery (though, now that I think of it, I might have been able to WD40 it back to life).
That being said, it IS very pricey! So it took this long for me to want it enough to buy it again. And I'm very happy with my purchase!
I never have any connectivity issues (and never have had any). I don't charge it but once every two weeks, and don't remember the last time it ran out of power. I didn't get to the one and a half year mark, I think, to determine if, as some reviews suggest, it has a battery issue. I will let you know (beer gods willing).
I probably wont buy two more, but I really want them! I came here to look for a used one, however, I figured, for the price I paid, this review might help others in their decision.
Still my #1 keyboardAugust 19, 2010 G. Park I got this as a special order from my bookstore at school because I had extra credit lying around. I just have to say that I only charge around 2 months at a time and I've had it since it first came out in 2007. After three years of heavy use, such as CS, COD2, SC2, etc., its still going strong and I prefer it to any other keyboard. Its been responsive still and its been through a lot of abuse.
